Understanding JPEG Container Markers
APP1 (EXIF & Adobe XMP): Contains camera serial numbers, GPS locations, Canva/Photoshop XML edit logs, and thumbnail previews. Often accounts for 20KB–150KB of unnecessary binary weight.
APP2 (ICC Color Profile): Color space definition tables (sRGB, Display P3). Can be safely preserved or consolidated to standardized sRGB chunk structures.
DQT & DHT: Discrete Cosine Transform quantization tables and Huffman entropy coding frequency trees that define pixel compression ratios without altering metadata.
